Performance Improvements
We have made serious performance gains in both SDLC and LAN operation.

• SDLC tests run up to 14% faster
• Token Ring tests run up to 300% faster
• Over 1,650 3270 SNA Frames/Second
• Over 86% utilization on a 16Mb Token Ring

SDTF Primary/Secondary Performance

These results were obtained by using two systems running SDTF, one acting as the primary and one as the secondary

Problem Determination Aids/Usability
New LAN utility and three types of trace/trace decoding are now available.

New LLCPING Utility Program - A Multi-purpose LAN Tool, designed to aid and supplement SDTF testing. Measures Node Performance Monitors Node Availability Generates LAN traffic Diagnoses LAN Connection Problems Discovers multi-segment active nodes and routing paths Displays LAN Adapter Information

LAN Trace Data traced includes: access control field, frame control field, destination and source addresses, routing information, destination and source Service Access Points (SAP), and LLC Protocol Data Unit (LPDU) control field. New Trace Detail Utility Program Displays SDLC, LAN, SNA Frames, and SNA RU Types, and decodes 3270 and 5250 Commands. Improved Trace Summary Utility Program Now decodes various XID types.Displays SDLC, LAN, and SNA frames in summarized flow format .

• Improved SDLC/LAN I/O Trace
  

  • SDLC - traces all commands issued to the SDLC adapter. Decodes transmit/receive errors, adapter status register, modem control port information, frame lengths, commands, and responses.
    
  • LAN - traces all commands issued to the LAN adapter. Decodes DLC status for easier problem determination.

New Manuals and Documentation Revisions

• 3x74 Results Analysis - all tests revalidated.
• LU6.2 Results Analysis - all tests revalidated.
• All new performance data for SDLC and LAN performance tests.
  
• All example screen output is now from screen shots.

Enhancements/Corrections

• SDLC now supports XID3 negotiations for Node Type 2.1.
  
• SDLC Error Recovery improvements.
  
• SDLC adapter detection and warning message if not found.
  
• Time stamped message when IUT stops responding.
  
• New performance statistics added to:
  
  • IND$FILE - now writes .PRN and .RPT performance result files.
    
  • SECOND - now measures performance and writes .PRN and .RPT performance result files.
    
• LOG/Trace now decodes various XID types, SABME/DISC/UA for LAN and RD, DM, SNRME, CFGR, and BCN for SDLC.
  
• Automation improvements to 5250 DSPT, LU62A, and EFF62 tests.
  
• All performance tests now output bits/second and packets/second into the .PRN file when running in the Batch Execution Automation Mode.
