Logical Link Control Diagnostics (LLCPing) Utility Program

LLCPing, a LAN performance and diagnostics tool, is now provided with all systems. It may be run from the Toolbox Menu or from the DOS Command Line. LLCPing is useful in resolving connection problems, measuring node response time, and monitoring node availability.

SNA Client Simulation System (SNAsec)

SNAsec, a stand-alone 3270 simulation program, is now provided to communicate with the SNAsim 3270 tests. SNAsec supports up to 254 SNA sessions and is very useful in testing FRADs, Routers, and Bridges. SNAsec is supplied with the STD and PRO versions. Refer to the READ.ME file on the SNAsim Installation Diskette for information on installing SNAsec.

SNAsim documentation is provided on the enclosed CD-Rom in Adobe Acrobat Portable Document Format (PDF).

Enhancements

• Automatically retries sending the appropriate XID based upon the received XID
• Log/trace now decodes additional SNA commands (ACTPU, ACTLU, BIND, FMH5 ATTACH, GDS, compression header) received
• LAN SAP address can now be optionally specified in the SNASIM.SYN file
• "Select SYN Name" option now shows both MAC and SAP addresses of the IUT in the pull-down menu
• Both MAC and SAP values can now be entered for the "TEMP" SYN name for the LAN protocol
• Open the LAN adapter with an I-field size based upon the adapter capacity
• Operation in Win95/98/NT DOS window and no longer requires a LAN support program
• Improved LAN performance
• Switching between Hex, Summary, and Detailed trace files using a hot key. [PRO]

ACT is committed to ensuring that the SNAsim^TM product can accurately process dates greater than 1999. Any place in which SNAsim^TM references or displays a date is now Year 2000 compliant.

BIND Changer Utility Program

The BIND Changer Utility has been added to the Toolbox Library and is supplied with the LITE, STD, and PRO versions of SNAsim. The BIND Changer allows alteration of the BIND parameters to user specified values.
