TN5250E Validation, Functionality, and Performance Tests
The ITF TN5250E test libraries are used to perform validation, functionality, and performance testing of TN5250E client implementations. The TN5250E test libraries can be used to evaluate TN5250E products or perform in-depth quality assurance testing using Ethernet, Token Ring, SLIP, or PPP connections. The TN5250 test libraries contain tests for verification of conformance to the TN5250E Internet Draft, functionality testing of displays/printers, and multi-session performance/stress testing of displays.
ITF TN5250E Test Libraries
The test libraries described below are use to perform TN5250E testing.
These tests provide verification of conformance to the 5250 Telnet Enhancements Internet Draft Draft and RFC’s 854, 855, 856, 858, 885, 1091, 1205, and 1572. The library contains 325 tests for displays and printers.
These tests are designed to test and exercise the functionality of an emulated 5250 workstation over TELNET and measure response time.
These tests are designed to test and exercise the extended functionality of an emulated 5250 workstation over TELNET and measure response time.
These tests provide multiple session TN5250 stress and performance test cases and measure the performance results using multiple clients/sessions connected to cluster controllers, bridges, routers, LLC convertors, or gateways. The tests utilize 5250 read and write commands to provide highly reproducible outbound, inbound, and outbound/inbound performance results. These tests closely simulate real world data streams, but at much higher performance rates.
The Host Emulation Tests are designed to closely simulate the types of displays found in a real world host environment. The tests consist of a series of host screens to display on the multiple sessions running on the multiple clients. These tests are terminal controlled, so they are ideal for use in customer demonstrations, trade shows, and training.
These tests provide verification of SCS printing by a TN5250E printer.
